Hopes For the New Year

HopesAs this first day of 2015 winds down and the sun sets, I feel a sense of excitement. Not anxious or worried, it’s a peaceful sort of excitement. Of course, I don’t know exactly what 2015 will bring. I expect it will have it’s fair share of heart ache and struggle because I still live in this human flesh, but I have fresh hope for my personal life. Hope that hard work, planning and perseverance will pay off and many people will be blessed. Hope that God will use me in ways I’ve not been used before. Hope that I will be a better friend, wife, mother, daughter etc. because I am growing and learning to understand and care for people better. Hope that I will be a better coach and leader.  And mostly hope that I will influence people to grow and bear good fruit in their lives.

My hopes for the year are not pie in the sky wishes – I know what kinds of actions it will take and what I’m intending to do to make my hopes a reality.  YES, to make them a reality I must have concrete Action Steps. Yet I also know, that my fate is not all within my control. Because of that, I look at goals and resolutions a little differently than most coaches. I know I must have solid ideas of what I want, so I do the work to clarify when I’m foggy about my desires. I pray. And I follow through with Action Steps. – most of the time. When I’m faithful with these things I find that the outcome is often much better than I could have asked for or imagined and I thank God my fate is not all within my control! So, based on experience, I’m excited about the new year.

What are your hopes for 2015?
