Marriage Coaching

I coached a couple for about a year. There had been an affair and their life together was not pretty when we began.  About 3 months later I received a text with an update ending with, “We are doing well.” ~ Kyle, Issaquah, WA

Calling Suzette was a last ditch effort. We’d been miserable for years and I was done. Something had to give. He was looking for apartments and that was fine with me. I don’t know why I called her. I guess I knew in my heart of hearts (because I’d done coaching in the past) that things could be different. I had no idea how different! I am more in love with him than ever. He’s been out of a job and we finished with coaching months ago, but we are still doing great. It’s like we we got reprogrammed.

I just saw your current email for the month and It reminded me of all your help and understanding to our marriage/relationship issues. . . .I thank you.

You have definitely been a blessing to both of us and we have learned a lot.  I have not been able to get out of my head all week that I can no longer blame Tamara for how I am feeling, I need to own that.  Believe it or not, it is very freeing. I think going forward my reminder will need to be, I am responsible for my feelings and responses.  No one else is. I think that might be in the Bible or something…:)

Thanks for the way you really put yourself out there to help us keep our conversations going in a positive direction.  The transparency you exhibit is almost scary, but it is helpful to know we’re not the only crazy people out there.  I’m sure we could find someone else, but I don’t think that we could find anyone else who cares as much as you do.  ~ John Arnot, Bora Bora
